About Liposuction

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction for a Perfectly Carved Body

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical treatment, in which the fat deposits are removed from the body to give the desired look to the patient.

Every person has his/her problem areas in the body where fat gets deposited. Even dieting and regular exercising is also not helpful in structuring them into a proper shape. In these cases, liposuction helps you to achieve the desired results.

Through the procedure, excessive fat is sucked from the body through surgical procedure.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is cosmetic surgery through which excessive fat is removed from the body parts. In the procedure, the body part, which needs liposuction surgery is nicked into the skin with Tumescent fluid. Tumescent fluid solution contains vasoconstrictor, which is a numbing solution. Afterwards, cannula is inserted into the body and pulled through the fat layer.

A prescribed and controlled back and forth movement of the cannula helps break the fat. The dislodged fat is then taken out of the body. The areas which are most common for liposuction include thighs, abdomen, buttocks, neck and arms. The procedure is performed with local or general anesthesia.

Who is the best candidate?

Individuals who have an average weight, and have fat accumulations at specific parts are eligible for undergoing liposuction. People under 40 have better results than older people. But that does not mean that older individuals will not have a significant change. An individual who is suffering from diabetes and heart problems should avoid getting the surgery. An individual must be aware of the fact that it is not a permanent solution to weight loss.

Side effects:

Liposuction is considered as a safe surgery with side-effects that include mild numbness, pain, swelling and bruising around the areas where the surgery has been performed. One has to wear a pressure garment on the area where the surgery has been performed. Some of the other side-effects from liposuction are thermal burns, lignocaine toxicity, fluid accumulation and irregular skin surface However, what one needs to remember is that, the liposuction surgery is considered as largely safe with minimal side-effects in few cases.

What is the Cost?

The approximate cost of the Liposuction Surgery is around $3,000 to $15,000 which is based on the surgeon’s skills , chosen procedures and the number of body regions involved.
