What is Nose Surgery?

The plastic surgeon will examine the nose of the patient to know the extent to which the nose can made in association to facial features. There are certain aspects that the surgeon will look into before performing the nose surgery such as skin type, height, age among many other considerations.

A ‘closed rhinoplasty’ is when the surgery is performed on the inside of the nose structure leaving no scars. On the other hand, ‘open rhinoplasty’ surgery is performed on the exterior of the nose. After the nose surgery is performed, it takes about a year for the full results to be seen on the nose. The surgical procedure will take about 1 to 2 hours to get completed. During rhinoplasty, the skin of the nose is made aloof from the bone, and then the cartilage is sculpted is made for the desired change. Once, the procedure is completed, a dressing is put on the nose for the coming 2 to 3 weeks. Once the dressing is removed, the patient might be required to have splints or internal tubes for the first week post nose surgery. For the next few months, edema might last post which the nose will start recovering.

Who is the best candidate?

A person who is not satisfied with their nose aesthetic appeal and want to make changes in their nasal bridge, nose width, nose tip, uneven nose shape can opt for rhinoplasty. Individuals with breathing problem because of the structure of their nose can choose to undergo nose surgery. A person with a fully developed nose can only be a candidate for rhinoplasty. There are minimum age criteria’s which are set by government for the surgery to be performed. Also people with asthma, high blood pressure, heart murmur, irregular heartbeat, and anemia are not considered as preferred candidate date for the procedure.

Side effects:

Considered as the safe procedure, the surgery has minimal side-effects like swelling, bruising, soreness, and stiffness are some of the side-effects experienced by people.
