About Lip Augment

What is Lip Augment?

Lip Augment Facts for Getting Fuller, Plumper Lips

Fuller, plumper lips add a balanced look to the other features of a person’s face and make her/him look attractive and gorgeous.

Lip augment can enhance the size and shape of your lips and can make them look fuller and more well-defined. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around your lips and can boost your self-confidence and sexual appeal.

What is lip augment?

Lip augment can be divided into two categories- surgical and non-surgical procedures. Surgical procedure involves inserting small artificial implants into the lips. In some cases, a person’s own tissues are also inserted into the lips through tiny incisions made in the lips. Fat grafting or fat transfer is yet another surgical lip augment procedure. The procedure involves taking your own body fat and inserting it into your lips to make them look fuller and youthful. Surgical lip augmentation is performed under local anaesthesia. Depending on the type of material used, and the complexity of the procedure, lip augmentation surgery may last for 2-3 hours after which the patient is allowed to go back home.

Non-surgical lip enhancement includes inserting lip fillers into the lips for increasing their size or changing their shape. There are many different types of fillers that are used for lip augmentation, such as Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Hyaluronic acid fillers, and Collagen fillers. Injectable Dermal fillers for lip enhancement are popular than surgical lip augmentation because they are safer, have minimum risks and complications, and the recovery and downtime period is also fast. The only problem with injectable dermal fillers is that the results are short-lived compared to that offered by surgical methods. One needs to get the fillers again if one wants to continue enjoying full and enhanced lips.

Who is the best candidate?

Anyone who is in good overall health can enjoy the benefits of lip augment. People who have diabetes, cold sores, lupus, blood clotting problem, or scarring of the lips are not considered good candidates for lip augment. Further, if a person smokes, it can increase his risk of complications. Your cosmetic surgeon would discuss your medical history and would find out if you are allergic to any medicines to decide whether you are a safe and ideal candidate for lip augment or not.

Side effects:

As with any surgery, there are risks and complications involved in lip enhancement. Some of the risks involved in lip augment are: Allergic reaction to anaesthesia Allergy due to implants Bleeding Redness Hardness of the implant Nerve damage Numbness The risks and complications can however be reduced if the lip augmentation surgery is performed by a trained, certified, and qualified surgeon. Further, by informing your surgeon about your medical history, you can further reduce the risk of complications during the lip augmentation surgery.

What is the Cost?

Depending on the type of method used for lip enhancement, the kind of injectable fillers used, and the experience of the surgeon, lip enhancement can cost anywhere between $1000 to $1500 (AUD). Go for lip augmentation and flaunt your fuller, softer, smoother, and properly defined lips.
